eCommerce Talks 2025: What Actually Mattered
September 29, 2025 - by Alexandru-Manuel Carabus
On 25 September we were at eCommerce Talks 2025 in the Aula Magna of Politehnica Bucharest: a survey of 1,036 Romanians, the 16% who lean on AI to shop, and eMAG Marketplace's numbers.

On 25 September we were at eCommerce Talks 2025, the conference easySales runs in the Aula Magna of the Politehnica University of Bucharest. It was the 6th edition, one day from 09:00 to 18:00, with theMarketer as main partner. The organisers announced more than 700 attendees and 40 exhibitors, in a hall with 1,000 seats, according to the event site.
Below are four things we brought home for the merchants we work with, plus four checks you can run this week.

Romanians still shop online, with a calculator in hand
At the event, easySales launched “Radiografia eCommerce 2025”, its study of online shopping in Romania. The data comes from 1,036 respondents, surveyed between 16 and 30 July 2025 to match the profile of Romanian internet users, according to Revista Biz (in Romanian).
- More than 60% cut their online shopping budget because of price rises: 39% moderately and 25% significantly.
- 18.3% cut more than 500 lei a month from their online shopping.
- Fashion and jewellery were cut first (31%), followed by electronics (22%).
- 83% watch the delivery cost, and 81% look for a discount before they complete the order.
For a Magento store, the last two numbers matter right away. If 83% of shoppers check the delivery cost, it has to show on the product page or in the cart, not only at the last step of checkout.
AI compares, family decides
The same study shows how far AI still is from being the salesperson, going by the figures published by Mobilissimo (in Romanian):
- 77% turn to family and friends first when they choose a product or a service.
- 16% rely on AI, and influencers get only 6%.
- 19% often use ChatGPT or similar tools to compare products, 32% try them now and then, and about a quarter are curious but have not tried them yet.
- More than 58% have bought something only because they saw it promoted online.

The “How AI is changing the way we shop” panel took the question on stage, with Octavian Palade (Aimup Agency) moderating Sorin Sfetcu (Google Romania), Andrei Ionescu (Upswing) and Tudor Goicea (Aqurate).
Our takeaway: 19% plus 32% means half of shoppers have already used an AI assistant to compare products. The assistant reads product attributes, not page design, so a Magento catalogue with complete attributes (size, material, compatibility) stands a chance of showing up there too.
eMAG: more orders, bigger baskets

The eMAG Marketplace talk put four numbers on a single slide, “Home of the Most Engaged Shoppers”:
- +14% orders;
- +4% units per order;
- 900,000 customers shopping every month, 16% more than last year;
- 900,000 customers shopping from at least 6 categories, 15% more than last year.
For a merchant with their own store, the marketplace is a channel and a competitor at the same time. If you also sell on eMAG, stock and prices from Magento have to reach the marketplace within minutes, not once a day, or you end up selling products you no longer have.
Funding, regulation and growth
In the afternoon, the “Scaling Smart: Funding Innovation and Navigating Regulation” panel brought 5 people on stage: Smaranda Heroiu (Upgrade 100) moderating, Tudor Darie (Fagura), Mircea Căpățînă (SmartBill), Cristina Crețu (MPR Partners) and Silvia Ursu (Iceberg Plus). The topic was how you fund the growth of an online business and keep up with rules that keep changing.
Us, in LIQUIDLAB T-shirts

Two of us from the LIQUIDLAB team went, as attendees, not sponsors. On the front, the T-shirts say “LIQUIDLAB, A Hyvä Partner”.

The back reads “eCommerce made happy”, with “hyvä / Magento” underneath. In short, what we do: Magento stores on the Hyvä theme.
Who made the day happen

The “Shaping the future of eCommerce” roll-up carries the logos of the edition's partners, from theMarketer, easySales and eMAG to FAN Courier, Compari, Skroutz, Upswing and Yespo.
What you can do this week
- Delivery: show the delivery cost on the product page or in the cart. 83% of shoppers look for it before they order.
- Discounts: 81% look for a discount. Check that the old price and the percentage show the same way in the listing, on the product page and in the cart.
- Catalogue: pick your 10 best sellers and check that their attributes are filled in, not just a long description. That is what AI assistants read, and 19% of shoppers use them often.
- Marketplace: if you also sell on eMAG, measure how many minutes a stock change in Magento takes to show up on the marketplace.
Update, October 2026: on 15 October 2025 we wrote about agentic commerce and Magento, and in September 2026 we published guides on getting your Magento catalogue into ChatGPT Shopping and on AI assistant recommendations. On ecommerce-talks.com, the organisers now list the 2025 edition with more than 1,000 attendees and 32 partners. The 7th edition took place on 24 September 2026, again in the Aula Magna.
Thank you

Thank you to the easySales team for organising the day, and to the speakers who brought numbers to their slides, not just promises. The closing slide said “See you next year!”.
